Washable Filtration: This vacuum sweeper has a washable HEPA filter. Unlike some mor eexpensive model that require replcement filters, the Dirt Devil filter can be washed, rinced and is ready to go again. This means lower cost of ownership over the life of the unit.

HEPA Filtration: The HEPA filter removes much more dirt from the exhaust leaving your home cleaner than older models without this feature. While the Dirt Devil reacion is good in this regard, it isn't an apparent stellar performer as there's few reviews that really mention this feature prominently. No company can afford a lot of warranty claims so I consider a longer warranty a psoitive.

Attractive Price Point: The dirtdevil Reaction upright vacuum cleaner prices are some of the most affordable in this category. The Dirt Devil Reaction can be found in many local stores and online for under 200 dollars.

Suction and Overall POWER: The Reaction upright vacuum cleaner is underpowered and cannot handle heavy duty vacuum work. This would be an active family with small children and a lot of pet hair. Although it does the job, it's a lot of work to get the floor clean. Realize that some people don't know what real suction power is all about because they haven't experienced it. Hence, there are some folks who think this is a high powered vacuum. With my 8 kids, a pile of grandkids, and a couple of animals to pick up after, let me just say that this isn't the vacuum for my home. That doesn't mean however that it won't be perfect for you and your situation.

Plastic Design: Due to the lower price, This little Devil naturally has a lot of plastic parts onboard. The design makes for a lightweight unit but the trade off is a noisier machine, parts than can vibrate loose and plastic just isn't as durable as other materials.

Limited usability on bare floor: I added this because it's important to some folks. The Dirt Devil Reaction vacuum doesn't pick up dirt well on bare floors. Like many vacuums, it's designed mainly to handle carpet cleaning and not vinyl, ceramic tile, hardwood flooring etc. It's ok but the Dirt Devil Reaction bare floor abilities are limited.

So we have a machine that is affordable, and would do a pretty good job for many people. Who?

Or how about newly marrieds. The Dirt Devil Reaction would be the best practical gift you could give someone that's starting out in their own home.

Due to the lightweight design, the Reaction would be perfect for older folks or those with limited mobility disabilities

This upright vacuum should be on anyones short list of considered units if they don't need a heavy duty model. If you home stay realtively clean or if affordability and HEPA filtration are important requirements in a new vacuum cleaner.

The Dirt Devil Reaction vacuum cleaner however is not designed for heavy duty continued abuse. The plastic design, although stylish, just wouldn't hold up the the use and abuse of a large or active family.
