Here is a quick list of the most common things that need done to freshen and clean your kitchen.

1. Wash the Kitchen Cabinets with Mild Soap or TSP
2. Finish the Cabinets Using a High Quality Furniture Polish
3. Use a Cup or so of CLR or Lime-Away Product in an Empty Dishwasher to Restore It's Cleaning Ability and Clean out All the Lime and Hard Water Deposits.
4. Get a Non-Toxic Orange-Based Degreaser Product and Clean the inside of the Range Hood
5. Remove Metal Filters and Soak in Degreaser
6. Remove Light Fixture Glass or Plastic Shades and Clean
7. Vacuum out All Dead Bugs in Light Fixtures
8. Remove Everything from under the Kitchen Sink.  Look for Leaks and Repair If Necessary. 
9. If the Top of Your Range Opens, Open It to Vacuum out All the Food and Crumbs in This Area. Use a Non-Toxic Degreaser, If Needed.
10. Remove All Range and of the Knobs and Soak to Remove Grease Buildup.
11. Clean out Bottom Oven Drawer If You Have One
12. Pull out the Refrigerator and Remove All Dirt Dust and Debris
13. Vacuum Compressor Coils Located behind or underneath the Refrigerator
14. Use a Glass Cleaner or the Orange Degreaser and Wipe down the outside of the Fridge
15. Remove Everything from the Refrigerator and Clean the Shelves.  If glass, use a window cleaner.  If wire, take them in the backyard and wash with a scrub brush and a solution of TSP.  Be sure to rinse well
16. Use the Degreaser and Wipe down the Walls between the Bottom and Top Cabinets
17. for Larger Areas in the Ceiling, Use a Bucket of TSP and a Clean Cloth
18. Fill Your Garbage Disposer Halfway with Ice Cubes.  Next, cut up a large lemon and place into the GD.  Finally fill the disposer the rest of the way with ice cubes.  Turn the garbage disposer on and let it stand and make noise for two to five minutes.  This will loosen all the rotting food and make it smell lemony fresh
19. watch and wax the floor, taking special care to get under the toe kicks

Finally, to give your kitchen the final touch, consider buying new door and drawer hardware.  Although replacing kitchen hardware is not cheap, it can give your kitchen a whole new look and it's cheaper than new cabinets.
